What are the Upper and Lower-Tier Cutting Boards made out of?
The Galley Upper-Tier and Lower-Tier Cutting Boards are made out of HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene).HDPE cutting boards are engineered for durability, low maintenance and safety. Its textured, matte surface
safely holds food in place without slipping. Wood and other materials absorb bacteria, splinter, chip, swell,
peel, rot, warp, bend and crack. HDPE cutting boards eliminates those problems, substantially outlasting
cutting boards made from other materials.
Bleach is best for disinfecting cutting boards. We have had great results by pouring bleach directly onto
the board, but the amount and potency of the bleach is up to you. We always advise to cut raw meat on
a separate cutting board from cooked meat, vegetables or other foods.
We are aware that cutting marks appear in the boards, and sanding is not recommended. If you'd like to
have the brand new look when company is coming over, additional boards can be purchased to have
on hand for such occasions.
